A Letter from your President

Greetings My Fellow Olds Lovers,

As many of you have heard by now, things have been a little mixed up lately. Our Newsletter Editor and fellow Club Member Mary Degler recently lost her sister and is in the process of settling her estate. On top of that, Mary is dealing with some health issues of her own. It’s been decided that Mary will take a short leave of absence from the Newsletter until her life gets back to normal. We put out a request to see if someone from the Club would assume the duties of Editor short term… Well, after hearing many crickets, fellow OCF Member Brian Bostak stepped up to the plate and said that he would fill in until Mary was once again available to assume the duties of Editor. Thank you, Brian!! Our Newsletter is part of what helps us keep the Club informed and rolling. The Membership looks forward to it for stories and information about Club events.

Another hiccup we’ve experienced is the unexpected resignation of Club Treasurer George Maniates due to his lovely wife Marian undergoing a very involved surgery; please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Kerri Berman has agreed to assume the Treasurer’s duties, however, that leaves the Secretary position open. We now need a Club Secretary so I’m asking for a volunteer to fill that void. Basically, being Secretary  involves taking minutes at the Board Meeting, which is usually a lunch meeting at a predetermined location and also taking the minutes at our monthly Membership gatherings and forwarding the minutes to the Newsletter Editor for our monthly publication. You would be able to rely on fellow Board Members to help you get started. Any OCF Member or spouse is eligible to apply. It’s a great way to get involved, meet and get to know other members and be a great help to the Club. So please consider helping.

Don’t forget, May 4th  at Hickory Point Recreation Park. 27341 FL-19, Tavares. The Olds Club of Florida Members Only Car Show with trophies! We’ve reserved an indoor shelter and are cooking out on the grill. The Club will be providing burgers & dogs with the fixin’s and some sides and water. Don’t miss out! We are hopeful that some of our Central Florida Members will join us; heck, it’s almost in your back yard! We’d like to see you! If you don’t want to drive your classic Old’s, you can always drive your new- er, not as cool car!

That’s all I’ve got, I’ve got no more, except to say stay safe and healthy. Looking forward to seeing you. Just remember, keep those Rockets fired up and rolling!

John
